Zoltan Geras Injury Disruptions

Zoltan Gera has not enjoyed the happiest of times since leaving West Bromwich Albion for Fulham last summer, with injury meaning that the attacking midfielder started only 20 games for the Cottagers in his first season in west London.

Although he has no regrets about leaving The Hawthorns a year ago, he does admit that sometimes he did question his own judgement during his spells on the sidelines.

“I expected a better season. There were moments when I asked myself, ‘Did I make a good decision?’” he revealed to Sky Sports.

“Four years is a long period, I got used to the atmosphere, the fans accepted or I may say they liked me, but I wanted to change.

“When I decided to go to London many people asked me, why Fulham?

“I was sure about it one year ago that Fulham wouldn’t have relegation problems – not like WBA. I’m very sorry about West Brom’s 20th position. If I must answer I didn’t regret changing team last year.”

Gera did manage to regain his spot in Roy Hodgson’s first choice line-up towards the end of the season, and is now relishing the opportunity to show supporters of the club his true capabilities, especially with the larger stage of the new Europa League available on which to perform.

“It wasn’t easy to win my place back in the team but finally I succeeded. I needed more time to adapt at Fulham,” he added.

“I missed the joy from my previous season, I was suffering for a year but I hope to go on with a better one.

“I have the will and I am determined. We’ll have a huge number of games because of the Europa League so I’ll surely have the possibility to show that I can produce better than I did last year.”
